E​​stablished in 1944, our church is committed to the proclamation of the Gospel of Christ, corporate worship, and the equipping of the people to grow and share their faith. The city of Belle Chasse is located just 7 miles from downtown New Orleans, LA on the storied West Bank. Our church is located on Highway 23 in Belle Chasse, LA, just past the local high school and post office, and just 1.9 miles north of the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base of New Orleans. Our congregants are eager to welcome new visitors and help you to feel at home whether you are here for just one Sunday or many. Thank you for visiting our website! God’s mission and the mission of His Church are inseparably linked. If God’s mission is to be glorified through the redemption and reconciliation of a people, the mission of the church should be the same. The mission of the Church is highlighted in 2 Corinthians 5. As those who have been reconciled to God through the gospel of Jesus Christ, we are now ambassadors of reconciliation to a lost and broken world. We plead, urge, implore, reason, pray, serve, preach, teach and gather to see God glorified through reconciliation. At FBC, this mission is best displayed in our communities where we daily have the chance of living out the Gospel to those around us. What is the glory of God? The glory of God is the gravity that keeps those who see and savor it from spinning off into the spacious trivialities of sin. God’s desire is that He might be known and enjoyed for His nature and character. We believe that the center of the gospel is the glory and grace of Jesus Christ, so we strive to be a church that is centered on the gospel and reconciled to God through Christ. We preach the grace of Jesus unapologetically because it is God’s grace that trains us to be holy (Titus 2:11-12). Because of what Jesus did on the cross, we can now be reconciled to God. Our mission is to preach this gospel unapologetically to the world. Though each Christian has a personal relationship with God, that relationship is not individual or private. The Christian faith is not intended to be lived in isolation. We were made for community; relationship with God and with each other. The local church is not merely a place that we attend but a people to whom we belong. The Bible calls us members of the body (1 Corinthians 12:12-31) with the expectation that we contribute to the body for the glory of God and the good of His people. Loving community with others means living together in a Gospel-centered environment; a radical call amid a culture of mere attendance and casual involvement. It involves mutual love, care, consistency and authenticity as we seek to adorn the person and work of Christ with our lives. At FBC, we aim to provide opportunities for experienced Christians and new believers to grow in their faith by participating in worship, serving in the church, and reaching out to our community. The purpose of the church is to biblically instruct believers in Christian living and initiate others into their journey of following Christ. As the book of James explains, the church exists to help instruct everyone on what it means to live a Christ-like life. First Baptist Church of Belle Chasse's story is as unique as each of our own. FBC has endured in and ministered to Belle Chasse, LA for over 80 years. Founded in 1944 as Belle Chasse Baptist Church, this gathering of believers sought to meet the need for a Baptist church in Plaquemines Parish. Perfectly equal in their divinity, however subordinate in responsibility; the Son submits to the will of the Father & the Holy Spirit is submitted to the will of the Father & the Son. This one true and living God is infinitely perfect both in His love and in His holiness. He is the Creator of all things, visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy to receive all glory and adoration. Immortal and eternal, He perfectly and completely knows the end from the beginning, sustains and sovereignly rules over all things, and providentially brings about His eternal good purposes to redeem a people for Himself and restore His fallen creation, to the praise of His glorious grace. *Genesis 1:2, 1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17; John 1:1-5; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Peter 1:16-21*. *God's gospel is authoritatively revealed in the Scriptures.* All Scripture is self-attesting and, being Truth, requires our unreserved submission in all areas of life. The infallible Word of God, the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is a complete and unified witness to God's redemptive acts, culminating in the incarnation of the Living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible, uniquely and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, is the supreme and final authority on all matters on which it speaks. *Matthew 5:17-20; John 16:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21.* Being estranged from God and condemned by our sinfulness, our salvation is wholly dependent upon the work of God's free grace. God credits His righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, thereby justifying them in His sight. Only such as are born of the Holy Spirit and receive Jesus Christ become children of God and heirs of eternal life. *Genesis 3; Psalm 143:2; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; I John 1:8-10*. *God's gospel is made known supremely in the Person of Jesus Christ* Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus was both fully God and fully human, lived a sinless human life, and offered himself as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again some day to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lord. *Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 8:58, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; Philippians 2:5-11; 1 Timothy 6: 14-15; Titus 2:13.* *God's gospel is accomplished through the work of Christ.* We believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed His blood on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His atoning death and victorious resurrection constitute the only ground for salvation and being made right with God. *God's gospel is now embodied in the new community called the Church.* We believe that we are not simply saved as individuals, but that we are saved “into” something called the Church. This is given many different names in Scripture but the primary one is that of a family or the “household of God” (Eph. 2-3). We are to relate to God as our Father and each other as brothers and sisters “in Christ.” This leads to a deep loving community that displays the power of the gospel to a watching world (John 13:35). We believe that the local church is an autonomous group of believers who join their lives together by the Gospel. Jesus mandated two ordinances, baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which visibly and tangibly express the gospel. Though they are not the means of salvation, when celebrated by the church in genuine faith, these ordinances confirm and nourish the believer. The local church is governed by the scriptures and operates under the Lordship of Christ with Pastor-Elders leading the people toward faithfulness in Christ. The office of the Pastor-Elder is limited to men as qualified by the scripture. *God's gospel compels us to Christ-like living and mission in the world.* We believe that God’s justifying grace must not be separated from His sanctifying power and purpose. God commands us to love Him supremely and others sacrificially, and to live out our faith with care for one another, compassion toward the poor and justice for the oppressed. With the gospel, the Spirit’s power, and fervent prayer in Christ’s name, we are to combat the spiritual forces of evil. In obedience to Christ’s commission, we are to make disciples among all people, always bearing witness to the gospel in word and deed. We believe that all Christians are called to a life of godly character, devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ and service to Him.  We believe that the gospel is not only the entry point into the Christian life, but is also the dynamic by which we relate to God. Growing in godliness happens by continually reflecting on the gospel, or “good news” of Jesus’ death and resurrection on our behalf. As we reflect on this, and God’s Word, we become aware of just how big the separation is between our sinfulness and God’s standard. This often happens simultaneously with growth in holiness. As we become more and more aware of just how big the separation is, the gospel becomes more and more important, the cross becomes more and more central, and, as a result, we are driven to worship, rather than pride or despair. *Ephesians 4:32, 5:18; 2 Corinthians 6:14, 7:1; Romans 12:1-2; Colossians 1:22-24.* *God's gospel will be brought to fulfillment by the Lord Himself at the end of this age.* We believe in the personal, glorious, and bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ with His holy angels, when He will exercise His role as final Judge, and His kingdom will be consummated. We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the just and the unjust—the unjust to judgment and eternal conscious punishment in Hell, as our Lord Himself taught, and the just to eternal blessedness in the presence of Him who sits on the throne and of the Lamb, in the new heaven and the new earth, the home of righteousness. On that day the church will be presented faultless before God by the obedience, suffering and triumph of Christ; all sin purged and its wretched effects forever banished. God will be all in all, His people will be enthralled by His holiness, and everything will be to the praise of His glorious grace. *Matthew 24:29-31, 36-51, 25:31-46; Luke 12:35-48,16:19-31; 2 Peter 3:1-13; Revelation 20:11-15, 21:1-8, 22:6-21.* *God's gospel requires a response that has eternal consequences* We believe that God commands everyone everywhere to believe the gospel by turning to Him in repentance and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that God will raise the dead bodily and judge the world, assigning the unbeliever to condemnation and eternal conscious punishment and the believer to eternal blessedness and joy with the Lord in the new heaven and the new earth, to the praise of His glorious grace. Amen. *John 5:24, 3:16; Mark 9:43-50; 2 Thesselonians 1:9.* The best way to really know and understand what we believe is to see it in action by becoming active in our faith family at First Baptist Church of Belle Chasse. If you have questions for any of our staff, feel free to reach out and email them or call our church office to speak with them. Brian was born in New Orleans, LA and was raised in Mississippi. In 2018, after more than a decade serving in student ministry and worship leadership, Brian and his family began their ministry in Belle Chasse, Lousiana. In June of 2020, Brian was appointed as the pastor of First Baptist Church of Belle Chasse. He lives in Belle Chasse with his wife, Laura, and two daughters. Brian is a PhD student at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and also holds a Master of Arts in Christian Education, Master of Divinity in Christian Thought, and a Master of Theology from NOBTS. Brian's focus in ministry is developing confident Christians who share their faith through their lifestyle. Jennifer joined the staff at First Baptist Church of Belle Chasse in October of 2024 as our office assistant. Jennifer's role requires office reception, financial management, records, and more. She and her family began attending our church in 2019 and have been key volunteers and participants ever since. Jennifer lives in Jefferson Parish with her three sons. Dalton and his family joined members of First Baptist Church in June of 2024. During that time, Dalton has become increasingly involved in our student ministry. Dalton served the youth group of his former church and feels a calling to ministry. In the Fall of 2025, he expressed a desire to work with our student ministry in a more official capacity. In November of 2025, he was appointed as our director of student ministry.Dalton serves in the U.S. Coast Guard and lives in Belle Chasse with his wife Stephanie and three children. Kaytlynn is a graduate of Louisiana Christian University and is a full-time school teacher in Plaquemines Parish. She joined our staff in November of 2025, filling a much-needed space in leadership for our children's ministry. Please contact Kaytlynn for information about our kid's ministry and to volunteer to serve. Zion joined the staff of First Baptist Belle Chasse in February of 2026. Zion moved to Louisiana from Mississippi this year following God's call on his life to ministry. He is a student at Leavell College pursuing a ministry degree. Zion will be serving predominantly with our worship and youth ministries while also gaining pastoral experience under the leadership of our church. Lauren is a native of Belle Chasse who joined our staff as the director of Belle Chasse Baptist Preschool in 2020. In her job interview, Lauren stated that her desire was to "direct a preschool that shares the Gospel with the children." In her years of direction, our preschool has seen great financial security and has gained a reputation for quality care and friendly service. Janice has served on the preschool staff since 2022. After completing her degree in Education in 2024, she was promoted to the position of Assistant Director. It has been said that you can tell nearly everything about a person by the way they spend their money. Using funds that are provided by our church members, we are able to provide ministries to Belle Chasse including weekly opportunities for worship, ministry events such as Vacation Bible School, and community outreach and impact events year-round. Accountability is essential to your spiritual walk. In a small group, all of these benefits are the readily available. Choose a group that fits your schedule, life experience, and personal needs. “Nothing can be more cruel than the leniency which abandons others to their sin. Nothing can be more compassionate than the severe rebuke which calls another Christian in one’s community back from the path of sin.” Led by deacon Gary Byram, the Encouragers groups features couples and individuals from various stages of life. They meet on the second floor of Building C. Led by Barbara Fontenelle, a retired Elementary teacher in Plaquemines Parish, this group of ladies meets each Sunday in our church library to dig into God's word together. Each year, our church hosts three children's events including the Easter Festival (April), [Vacation Bible School](/vbs) (June), and Fall Festival (October). Sunday school classes are provided for Babies, Toddlers, PreK 3 & 4, Kindergarten-1st grade, 2nd-4th grade, and 5th-6th grade. Mid-week, our Kindergarten through 6th grade students gather for Children in Action to learn about Missions and to serve our community. Each year, our church hosts three children's events including the Easter Festival (April), [Vacation Bible School](/vbs) (June), and Fall Festival (October). Students gather on Sunday mornings for Bible Study and fellowship. Students gather on Wednesday evenings for a mid-week Bible Study, games, and fellowship. Students are invited to attend monthly events and outings.
