Latest Update: May 3, 2021
Hello, Prayer Partners!!
We pray this newsletter finds each of you well. We wanted to send you another update on how things are going in Canada.
While much of the US is well on the way back to pre-pandemic life, we’re afraid the same cannot yet be said for Canada. We are in the midst of our second (and Ontario’s third) lockdown. The current lockdown is expected to last at least until May 20, unless it is extended at that point. We’ve recently heard that it could last into July, or at least until enough people become vaccinated that the rate of infection drops drastically.
As most of you know, we are serving at Fellowship Pickering. We were able to meet in person for about a month, which was wonderful and so life-giving. Unfortunately, our service has now moved back to online-only due to more restrictive measures taken by the province. We are so grateful for technology that allows us to stream service and “see” each other on video calls. However, it is certainly our prayer that we will be able to gather in person again soon.
Despite the lockdowns, we have spent a lot of time outdoors, going on walks, hikes, and taking our girls to the playground. Through being outdoors, we have gotten to meet many neighbors and members of our community and have had gospel conversations with many of them.
For Easter outreach, we took bags to some of the neighbors we have met. We included a sign that said, “You’ve Been Egged!” as well as the meaning of the contents. The bags were filled with 12 treat-filled Easter eggs, and one was left empty to represent the empty tomb of Jesus. The bags led to several additional conversations with neighbors.
Homeschooling continues to go well for the girls. Ellie is zipping through chapter books, and Avery has started reading independently!
We have a wonderful community of fellow planters here who spur us on toward loving and serving Jesus. The lockdowns have been discouraging and isolating at times, but we are thankful to be surrounded by people who love, encourage, and pray for us.
Specific Prayer Requests:
Please pray that God will grant us creativity and boldness as we continue to reach out to our community, especially during this time of lockdowns.
Pray that hearts will be softened, and that people will come into relationship with Jesus.
Pray for those who are lonely, isolated, or out of work due to these lockdown measures.
Please pray for our fellow planters, that they too will be encouraged and filled with peace as they lead their churches through another lockdown.
We love you all and are forever grateful for your prayers and support of our family to fulfill the calling that God has placed on our lives. You can email us if you have any questions or just want to say hello - we’d love to hear from you!
