Reflections On AWANA 2018-2019
Awana stands for A Workman Approved, Not Ashamed, based out of 2 Timothy 2:15. The goal of this program is to give kids a deep biblical foundation for their lives, and a solid faith community to surround them and encourage them.
The program runs each Sunday from 9:15 (during the adult bible study) and will last till 11:45 (during the 10:30 worship service).
The program has three main components: small groups, large groups, and recreation.
Small Groups: Puggles – Toddlers, Cubbies – 3-4 yrs, Sparks – K-2nd grade, and TNT (Truth-n-Training) – 3rd-6th grade.
Students are working through workbooks, memorizing scripture, and seeing how the bible applies to their lives.

Puggles recognizes the learning ability of toddlers by introducing biblical precepts at church and equipping parents to teach them at home.
At Story Time each week, preschoolers learn about God - the greatness of His love and His Word - about His Son, Jesus Christ, and promised Savior. Non-competitive games build excitement and reinforce Story Time lesson themes.
Sparks ignites the curiosity of early elementary-age kids to learn about the people and events of the Bible,
building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ.

T&T (Truth & Training) teaches kids the truth of God's Word, trains them to follow Him and practice His grace. It engages third- through sixth-graders by answering their questions about God and the Bible, guiding them through this pivotal life stage to grow in Christ's grace.

Large Group: This is a upbeat, purposeful time of corporate worship, a creative bible teaching, and group interaction. All of the older age groups would be together for this time. The lessons from the small group time are coordinated with the large group session so that it reinforces the message for the week. The lessons are stand alone in the sense that anyone can drop in and get something out of it, but they are also purposeful and build toward the overall theme and goal of the year.
Recreation: This is a focused time of play and interaction. This time creates opportunities for fun relationship building between adults and students, and each game that is played reinforces a spiritual point.
